Help! I have been arrested for drink driving. What happens?

Any driver or persons in charge of a vehicle can be required to provide police with a breath sample or “breath test” if the police have reasonable cause to believe that the person driving or in charge of the vehicle has consumed alcohol.

Police station

If the breath test is positive or you fail to comply you will be taken to the police station. You will usually be asked to provide two specimens of breath. If they are positive you will have committed an offence and will be required to attend court.
